Tezcuco Plantation

The graciously raised cottage, Tezcuco, was the final refinement of a long list of Bringier family homes. One of the last homes finished by the civil war, Tezcuco, was built by Benjamin Tureaud in 1855. It was carefully constructed over a period of five years with cypress from its own swamps and bricks from its own kiln. The house tragically burned to the ground in 2002. Not only was the house lost, but original paintings by John Audubon and writings by Mark Twain were lost as well.
